COMING SOON: RE-FORESTATION

Mountlake Terrace Station, Seattle, WA

The city of Mountlake Terrace has its origins as a logging town that was cut clean and sold off as stump ranches. Since then, the city has gone through alternating cycles of growth and decline, each stage leaving behind distinct traces while serving to gradually separate the area and to weaken its intracity connectivity. Recent developments have been focused toward regenerating these pathways, leading me to imagine them as reawakened roots bursting from the ground to form the foundation of the station; the central crossing point of transportation and future human activity. A combination of technologies provides lenticular imagery that allows specific passages to appear or diappear depending upon when or how the artwork is viewed.
